At Banlaw, we have always believed that the future belongs to those who see possibilities where others see nothing. From our inception, our thirst for innovation has been insatiable, and continuous improvement, well that’s part of our DNA. For over 4 decades, we’ve made it our business to turn challenges into opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and profitability for our customers. At the heart of this is a future-focused philosophy that drives everything we do.
We’ve put together this Innovation Timeline to showcase our evolution through the decades. From a modest team of 5 to becoming a global thought leader, striving to redefine the boundaries of what’s possible through Fluid Asset Intelligence.
Banlaw Innovation Timeline
1980's
- Banlaw was founded with a team of 5.
- We began as distributors of US products to the Australian Mining Sector.
- Birth of the Environmental Movement: Companies and investors were beginning to become more environmentally conscious, but few suppliers had the solutions in place to meet this demand.
- Banlaw were the first to prioritise fluid transfer product quality, for environmental impact minimisation, as well as longevity.
1990's
- We saw an opportunity to solve customer problems through ongoing innovation and forward-thinking design, so we decided to manufacture our own diesel refuelling and fluid transfer products using steel rather than softer materials.
- Expanded our reach to Indonesia, UK, USA and South Africa.
- Invested in precision CNC machining, allowing us to pursue superior product quality, and for our clients to achieve faster fills with fewer spills.
- We welcomed our in-house engineering team to drive our culture of relentless innovation.
- We also introduced our fully serviceable dry break refuelling nozzles. To this day our dry break diesel refuelling nozzles are fully serviceable and repairable, sometimes remaining in use for many years.
2000's
- Banlaw pioneered the Unified Fuel Management Model, an integrated approach that holistically considers the key safety, environmental, performance, and cost facets of managing hydrocarbons; then applies hardware products, software controls, and onsite process and infrastructure to maximise benefits.
- Increased our focus on Ergonomic Design Principles for superior Occupational Health and Safety outcomes and enhanced efficiency across operations.
- Introduced robust technologies to enhance fuel security and reconciliation.
- Focused on continuous improvement and ongoing product redesigns to drive optimised safety, performance, reliability, and automation.
2010's:
- Robotics: We introduced state of the art robotic manufacturing capabilities to allow for autonomous 24/7 production.
- Dry Break Auto ID: Banlaw are the world’s only OEM of Auto ID technology embedded inside the Dry Break refuelling hardware. Our Dry Break Auto ID solutions represent the pinnacle of diesel fuel security, data collection and process automation.
- We welcomed our in-house software and electronics engineering team to pave the way for fully-integrated fluid management hardware + software + infrastructure + process safety and automation capabilities.
- Continued Global expansion.
- Automated Processes: We changed the game when it comes to automation through patented user and equipment identification technologies that streamline daily operations for our clients.
- FillSafe Zero: Revolutionised and automated tank overfill prevention, creating a new standard in mobile equipment refuelling safety, performance, and reliability.
- We focused on creating system-based solutions for customers rather than individual products. For some real world examples of how integrated systems provided exceptional value outcomes for our customers please take a look at our case studies.
2020 and beyond:
- Achieved full-breadth ISO Accreditations spanning Safety, Environmental Management and OHS processes
- Banlaw On Board: We invented a portable device that captures and analyses equipment usage and consumption for every fuel-consuming asset, automatically.
- ResTrack RMS Software: First and only company to use IiOT in a synergised way to automate fleet utilisation data capture, fluid asset security, fuel consumption monitoring at a machine level, along with facility performance, stock management, and company reporting for maximised and ongoing benefits.
- ResTrack Xpress Field Controller: Our most accessibly-priced field controller ever, with all the features our customers value the most in a compact, robust, easy-to-install package for managing fuels and other high-value fluids.
Banlaw continues to invest in resolving and pre-empting the challenges industrial businesses will face in the years to come. We are doing this by creating smart, reliable, and safe solutions to manage fuel, oil, hydrogen, and all other high-value fluid assets. Choosing Banlaw means choosing improved economic, environmental, and safety performance for your operations, now and into the future.
