Banlaw is thrilled to be supporting Charlotte Poynting as she competes in the Aussie Racing Cars Super Series, which is part of the Newcastle 500 event. Charlotte is not only a highly skilled driver but also a member of the Banlaw team, and we are proud to be sponsoring her as she pursues her passion for competing in Australia’s top motor racing events.
You can catch Charlotte driving her Number 52 Banlaw ARC on Fox, Channel 7, or Kayo Sports. The qualifying round takes place on Friday, followed by two races on Saturday and two races on Sunday.
Charlotte has been passionate about racing for over a decade and has been racing go-karts at a high level since 2010. She moved into the Aussie Racing Cars (ARC) in 2016 and is now the only Novocastrian to compete in every single Newcastle 500. This weekend, Charlotte will race as the only woman in a field of 40 drivers. We caught up with Charlotte to ask what it means to be racing in Newy and how she’ll handle competing against all those guys…
Charlotte: “It’s just great to be able to do it at home in front of my mates and all of the locals who support me. I can’t wait for the racing, and I can’t wait for that view of the beach coming back down the hill! In terms of the guys… Oh, I’m going to be aggressive, so they’d better watch out.”
The Aussie Racing Cars series features compact, purpose-built vehicles that are all mechanically identical, making it a true test of driving ability. Each car only weighs around 500kg, giving it a staggering power-to-weight ratio. With the right driver, ARC vehicles can even be faster around the corners than the V8s.
At Banlaw, we are incredibly proud to have one of our own competing on the big stage and excelling in her sport. We wish Charlotte Poynting the very best of luck this weekend!
