Tim Jeffrey

Chairman of the Board

Tim Jeffrey has over 5 years of experience in Board Chair roles and 25 years of experience in leadership consulting and coaching. His expertise spans operational leadership, strategic planning, and business development, and he brings a very strong background in industrial sales spanning various industries.

Tim’s proven track record includes being recognised as the top global salesperson at an international consulting firm and receiving their VIP Award for significantly exceeding budgeted sales 8 out of 10 years.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queensland University and an MBA from Michigan State University, where he graduated with honours. He also attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Leadership Program. Outside of work, Tim enjoys golf, scuba diving, fine wine, and whisky.

Bill Clifton

Managing Director, CEO, Shareholder

Bill Clifton is the Managing Director and CEO of the Banlaw Murphy Group of companies, with over 20 years of experience in the fuel industry as a Shell distributor and an additional 20 years of experience in fluid asset management technology innovation. Bill has transformed Banlaw from a small but respected refuelling product manufacturer into a global provider of safe and secure liquid management and accounting solutions.

Under Bill’s leadership, Banlaw expanded internationally, establishing Banlaw North America in 2010 and acquiring R&R Murphy Pty Ltd in 2021. Bill’s expertise includes business growth, strategic planning, and technology innovation. Since Bill purchased Banlaw in 1999, the organisation has delivered an annual compound growth rate of 18%.

Bill holds a degree from Nepean College of Advanced Education (now Western Sydney University) and has served 14 years as a Director of the Newcastle Grammar School and 4 years as President of Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union. Outside of work, Bill focuses on quality time with his six children, soon-to-be 9 wonderful grandchildren, and varied community interests.

Jeff Barker

Director, Shareholder

Jeff Barker has over 40 years of experience in business leadership, primarily in the hydraulics and fluid management and offroad vehicle sales, rental and maintenance industries. He co-founded and led multiple companies, including PT Eka Dharma Jaya, a leading Volvo Truck distributor in Kalimantan, and PT Fluidcon Jaya, a successful hydraulics business.

Jeff’s leadership saw significant growth in these ventures, including the expansion of Fluidcon, which he sold to Atlas Copco in 2008, to 21 locations with 250 employees. Jeff took PT Eka Dharma public with well over 1000 Volvo trucks in the field and also co-founded PT Transkon, a leading light vehicle rental company for the mining industry. He is currently a Director at Banlaw Pty Ltd., holding a 57% stake. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family.

Chad Russell

Non-executive Director

For over 20 years, Chad has helped business owners succeed. His specialist expertise includes planning, growth, governance, cash flow, M&A and financial reporting.

Chad is a Chartered Accountant and started his career in boutique accounting firms. For 10 years plus, he has been a partner at PKF Sydney and Newcastle, where he and his team work across many industries and businesses on the various daily challenges that business owners face. Chad likes to see the organisations he works with achieve rewarding outcomes and enables this by challenging the status quo.

When not working, Chad enjoys spending time with his young family and playing and watching various sports.

With decades of combined experience in areas such as governance, strategic planning, digital innovation, and industrial sales, Banlaw’s board members bring diverse and proven skill sets to the table. From guiding infrastructure and sustainability projects to spearheading business expansions across global markets, our directors are committed to delivering impactful solutions for our clients while leading Banlaw toward a sustainable and innovative future.
