Refuelling

Banlaw offer a wide range of nozzle accessories to facilitate your diesel refuelling processes. They are all manufactured to Banlaw’s high standards and are durable and reliable.
We design, engineer and manufacture a range of high performance diesel refuelling components including dry break nozzles, dry break receivers, vents and dust caps. Our products are designed and built for reliability and performance, and used in some of the harshest work environments around the world. Our Dry Break Nozzles are made from steel and aluminium and are ergonomically designed for easy and balanced operation even under high pump pressures. Banlaw dry break nozzles have the highest flow rate capability to help you improve diesel refuelling times and reduce vehicle downtime.
The Banlaw Dry Break Nozzle is repairable, not disposable. They are robust and last considerably longer in the field. Supported by accredited repairers around the globe, Banlaw nozzles cost less in the long run.
Due to a series of recent fires on mine sites, we’ve decided to focus this article specifically on the fire risk associated with using fuels and oils in an industrial setting. Banlaw team members spend well over 100,000 hours a year designing, building and maintaining dry break fuel systems, processes, and infrastructure. Our service teams spend the majority of their hours on site, auditing fleets and facilities, training operators, delivering preventative maintenance, or analysing the data that’s been captured on mine sites to find improvements. We’ve seen pretty much every conceivable way that a fire can be caused in a fuel facility or on mobile plant. Below is what we’ve learned about avoiding fires over the last 37 years.
The Amrun Project is to produce some 22.8mtpa of Bauxite for the local production of Aluminium, as well as direct export to markets north of Australia. US$1.9b is being spent to expand production from one of the world’s premier Bauxite deposits, which has the potential for expansion to around 50mtpa. Banlaw’s involvement is the design, engineering, and supply of two fuel facilities.
Pacific National – a large freight loco operator in Australia – had safety concerns regarding their fluid couplings used within In Line Refuelling systems, commonly used on longer haul journeys. Concerns included: spillage of fuel when connecting and disconnecting the couplings, difficulty in connecting the couplings with residual fuel pressure within the hose, and unintentional disconnection of the couplings during a journey.
Mtu Indonesia needed to minimise downtime caused by premature wear of fuel components. In the mine environment, particles were getting into the fuel through the unfiltered fuel tank vents. A super class mining truck uses between 4,000 and 5,000 litres of fuel a day, so an equivalent amount of “unfiltered” air was entering the trucks’ fuel tanks.
