Our Community
Here at Banlaw we’re really committed to giving back and contributing a positive impact to the communities we serve. Through various initiatives, such as donations, events, and partnerships with local organisations, we strive to uplift and strengthen the people around us and be a force for good.
Our dedication to corporate social responsibility extends beyond philanthropy; it’s ingrained in our people, our business, and our practices.
Banlaw respects our place in the community and we are delighted to lend our support to individuals, organisations and initiatives that improve the quality of life within and the vibrancy of our communities.
Champions of change: Backed by Banlaw
We continually play our part by raising funds for charities, such as Got Your Back Sista, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, The Salvation Army, Beyond Blue and many others. We’re dedicated to making a difference today, tomorrow and well into the future.
Fueling the future
Together with the University of Newcastle, we’re proud to nurture a new era of innovation and help enable our future thought leaders in STEM industries.
Our NuTeams partnership contributes to the development of modern cross-functional engineering skills. It includes ongoing engagement with University of Newcastle engineering students to share the insights and skills crucial to successful technology innovation in the years ahead. Our contribution to final-year (honours) student projects also helps assist with rapid prototyping, CNC manufacture, and embedded technologies.
Racing for a cause
With a long-term love of racing (especially grassroots racing), Banlaw team members often get behind a participant or team in charity races like the Variety Bash or Shitbox Rally. Funds raised due to Banlaw’s involvement have supported cancer research and helped kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs live life to the fullest.
Our love of racing doesn’t stop there, though – we’ve provided exciting sponsorships to participants in the Aussie Racing Cars Super Series, Keema Cars Excel Cup, the Newcastle 500 and the Bathurst 1000! Sponsoring racers has allowed us to support aspiring women in sport and talented and emerging athletes of all ages, while also firing up some extra excitement in our communities.
Supporting women in sport
Our admiration for women in sports is celebrated with our support of the Surfest Women’s Pro event. We’re one of a number of organisations involved in crowdfunding the event, which enabled elite female athletes to compete for prize money equal to that of the men. This is the first time in professional surfing that women have been rewarded equally, and we couldn’t be prouder to see these ladies absolutely smashing it on the waves.
Our local football teams
Also on the sporting front is our support of the Hunter Wildfires Rugby and the Northern Hawks Rugby League teams as a Corporate Community Partner. Sponsorship of our local football teams helps provide top-notch facilities and equipment along with opportunities for players to excel and grow.
Funds for families fighting cancer
Charlie’s Run 4 Kids charity marathon saw participating runners clock 150km over five days! Our community sponsorship funding helped the Charlie’s Run 4 Kids program hit the ground running and provide support to families fighting childhood cancer.
Support in times of need
We are proud to be long-term supporters of the Australian Red Cross. Our donations to the Red Shield Appeal help deliver aid and shelter to communities devastated by natural disasters and support vulnerable people in Australia and worldwide.
Contributing to a healthy state of mind
Banlaw has been a proud, long-term supporter of CommStrength Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable organisation funded solely by the community and business groups. The primary objective of the Foundation has been to support young persons aged 15-25 years, advocate for change on issues that impact their welfare, and prevent youth suicide. Banlaw funding has enabled the not-for-profit to purchase equipment as well as support resources.
