TIP: ULTRA FINE FILTERED VENT SOLVES COMMON PROBLEM

CASE STUDY: MTU RECOMMENDS BANLAW VENTS AFTER TRIAL

 
MTU, a leading diesel plant equipment OEM, now recommends its customers use Banlaw’s ultra-fine filtered vents on all its vehicle’s fuel tank breathers for mining environments. MTU trialled the “first generation” BFV225 vents onboard haul trucks at one of Indonesia’s largest mines to resolve problems with excessive downtime from premature fuel system component wear on vehicles.

There is nothing our long-serving Mechanical Development Manager Adam Peattie doesn’t know about refuelling, hydrocarbon management and contamination control.Adam’s 3 key things you need to know about contamination control.

  1. Be aware of the OEM recommended contamination levels for fuel and fluids dispensed into plant equipment. Don’t rely on filtration and fuel/water separators onboard plant equipment to rectify overly contaminated fuel and fluids. Filtration onboard plant equipment is not designed to cater for fluid contamination above the recommended levels for fluids dispensed into the equipment.
  2. Choose contamination control equipment, sampling practices, and monitoring programs that will achieve the OEM recommended levels. Don’t fall into the common “trap” of wasting money on poorly selected equipment such as inadequate filtration systems.
  3. Contamination isn’t just caused by dirt and dust (solid particulates). Other top causes are water (moisture), microbes, fuel substitution and cross contamination with other liquids. Does your contamination control equipment and management programs cater for all these contaminants?
